..if you honestly expect things in this world to go right, and that people of authority are moral, and those that make decisions on behave of us aren't doing it out of THEIR best interest, and that everytime a politician lies, cheats, steals, kills, rapes..etc...or a priest does those things.. you can honestly say that that surprises you? Come on!!?!?! Wake up and see the world of crap we live in..then smile and laugh at it..cause that's really all we have at this point..oh...and like Gabe says..you gotta pray..but I say laugh as well..pray and laugh..

Why did you have to be sick. We are never going to see eachother again. I am leaving for the war in 4 days. Packing has been hard but the pictures and memories will bring me great joy. Give my love to the girls. I will never forget the day we let Mary ride the horse through the prarie by herself... What an adventure that was! I never thought we were going to get that buggy out of the mud. Those bogs get real harsh after the first frost. Well, I am not sure what my days will be like our there in the killing fields. Little Maggie will be at home cookins' some good grubbin' for the boys, and I will be out eating oatmeal in front of the fire. I told little Stevie to watch after the chickens while I am gone. Who knows what these next months may bring. I know one thing for sure Gabe. God is on our side.
